A look at the future with a new design

Hyundai Heavy Industries Europe (HHIE) is bringing several new models of forklift trucks to CeMAT in Hannover. These are top end additions to the current range. The South Korean manufacturer will also reveal a little bit of the current developments regarding the design for a new series.

The 50L-7A is a totally new addition to the range. It complements the existing models with a machine with 5 t load capacity. The new series now has four forklift trucks with capacities of 3.5 t, 4 t, 4.5 t and 5 t. There is also an addition to the lower sector with the addition of a 3.3 t model, the 33L-7A, to the range.

All the models in the 7A series are fitted with Tier 4 engines. These machines are among the first in Europe to comply with the higher standards which only apply in the USA up until now. This way, Hyundai is ahead of its time and already offers today the guarantee of a safe investment for the future. The lower emissions also contribute to enhanced environmental protection and working safety.

There are many innovations too to the power transmission, such as the new front axle arrangement. In the new system, the transmission has been mounted independently from the front axle with an intermediate drive shaft. This effectively eliminates vibrations from the driveline for smoother operation and greater operator comfort. The new solution also has advantages for service work, as the gearbox and front axle are separately accessible.

There is also a new design handbrake. It is no longer in the front axle, but has now been located as a wet brake in front of the differential. This means it is better protected from dust, requires less servicing and is easier to access. Technical modifications to the brakes have also increased the braking power. And last but not least, all models now have OPPS (Operator Presence Sensing System) which detects when the operator leaves his or her seat and neutralises all hydraulic and drive functions.
